Monster
scoop app
Monster Scoop is an ice cream business that primarily operates through an ice cream truck. I designed the branding, app, and user experience.

assets
I was given a set of assets to help with the app creation. It included toppings, bowls, and photos of all of their ice cream and popsicle flavors.
goal

Limitations
Other than the provided assets, I had total creative freedom to coose fonts and colors, etc.
Feel
My main goal was to create an identity for the Monster Scoop brand that is kid-friendly and welcoming to all ages.
Monster avatars
One of the prompts from the client was to create and include monsters in the app.
Here are the little guys I made; I used them in a few different ways. For example, you can choose to use one as your avatar from settings once you sign in. You can also see which monster nearby users chose as well as what treat they purchased on the Monster Feed.

app wireframe
This is the wireframe for the entire app and as you can see, there is a lot going on. During my design process, I started out using greyscale so that I knew my designs wouldn’t be relying on just colors and pretty aesthetics. Starting this way made the end product a lot stronger.

Here it is fully designed and in color. I used the blue and pink to ground the app and make every page feel cohesive. Other ways I did that were using the circles for images, the use of text boxes, or keeping a consistent style in my illustrated icons throughout every page.
call to action
I included a call to action in the form of an a-frame sign that employees would place next to the ice cream truck when they are parked to inspire customers to download the app and order online the next time they crave Monster Scoop ice cream.

result
The end product for Monster Scoop’s new brand identity and app is child-friendly, welcoming, and provides an experience that encourages users to come back.
